While this is not a full-scale tailgating event (like on football gamedays), there will be a limited section of the Grove, in front of the Union, available for attendees to set up tents. It will be available on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 3:30pm on Saturday, June 12.
Rules for tailgating are below, as defined by the University of Mississippi. Most can be summarized in a few general principles: be welcoming, be respectful, be generous, and be kind. If someone has already laid claim to a space you had been eyeing, let it go. If someone is feeling the heat and needs a place to sit down, let them join you in your tent, even if you don’t know them. This event is about peace, love, and pride, and we want everyone to celebrate queer community by embodying the best in all of us.
See you on June 12. Hotty Toddy!
Tailgating tents may only be set-up in a designated area in the Grove that is directly in front of the Student Union and bordered by the Walk of Champions to the east and the Croft Institute to the west.
No tent may be set-up before 3:30 PM; spot saving will also not be allowed.
Stakes and other fastening devices are not permitted under any circumstance. Damage done to the ground, trees, light poles, generators, buildings or any other campus property may result in a fine or the covering of damages.
Please leave at least 6 ft of space between your tent and those around you.
Know and obey regulations concerning alcohol use. Drinking is illegal for anyone under the age of 21. Oxford Pride strongly encourages the use of “Solo” cups for all beverages. Individuals and tent groups that do not follow alcohol regulations are subject to removal and/or arrest.
With the exception of approved University-sponsored tents, all spaces are first come, first served.
Tents that are 12 x 20 or smaller are permitted. If a tent is determined to be an unacceptable size or is housing unacceptable activities, the owner will be asked to immediately reduce the size of the tent or the tent will be removed.
Portable generators with a decibel rating of 60db or higher are prohibited.
Amplified sound, televisions, and satellite dishes are prohibited.
Extension cords and other electrical cord carriers are prohibited from running across sidewalks and walkways. Failure to do so will result in the removal of the cords.
No cords or cables of any type will be allowed to be run or pass through open windows or through doors of campus buildings.
Power sources may not be drawn from campus buildings.
Electrical circuits are not to be overloaded by plugging in multiple extension cords by using splitters or power strips. Circuits that are tripped will not be reset.
Unauthorized tampering with the University’s electrical distribution equipment, including circuit breaker panels, junction boxes or disconnects will not be tolerated
Unauthorized entry into any campus building will not be tolerated.
